General Information |
How much do they cost?We are an authorised Kinetico dealer. Although these tend to be the most expensive water softeners, they are also the simplest, most efficient and in the long run can save time, hassle and money. To supply and fit a Kinetico softener is normally around £1,600 including VAT, and the average family of four will recover this cost in about 3-4 years. |
How much does the salt cost?We also supply salt for water softeners. The Kinetico Block Salt (sometimes called "Harvey's Block Salt" after the man who first brought Block salt into the UK) salt is available for £5.00 per box of 2 blocks (8Kg). We keep a lot of Salt in stock at our showroom, so if you are running low feel free to stop by and pick some up. For an average usage guide, allow for a block per person per month, so the running cost is about £2.00 per person per month. |
The Full Story on water softenersThe outstanding benefits of having a soft water supply at home are very well documented... the significant financial gains from descaled pipes and much more efficient water heating... the convenience of permanently sparkling taps, shower heads, sinks and baths...the personal pleasures of bathing in silky smooth water and experiencing 'softer' feeling clothes, towels and bed-linen. The only question is what's the best way of going about it? Water softening machines have been around in various guises for many years. Generally, they all work by the same principle. The hard water is passed through a bed of tiny, resin crystal beads that capture the lime scale and minerals that make water hard. This ionising process is what softens the water. However, because the resin beads become exhausted after a while, they need regenerating. This is done by flushing them through with saltwater solution at regular intervals. The resulting waste goes down the drain - and the water softener can continue its work. There is one water softener that goes about the softening process differently from all the rest. It's the unique, patented Kinetico... the worlds smallest water softener. This brochure demonstrates how it works and why it's so far ahead of anything else on the market. |
The Secret of Kinetico's world-wide SuccessThe Kinetico water softening system was invented in 1970 in the USA. The revolutionary twin-cylinder process with its brilliant, non-electric turbine metering system means that exactly the right amount of water is softened in a continuous process in a machine that's virtually maintenance free. A Kinetico water softener works better, more easily, more quietly and more reliably than any other competitor. And remember the reason that competitors continue with the old-fashioned single cylinder systems with its complicated electronic programming is that Kinetico had the wisdom to patent their inventions. Nothing else is in the same league as Kinetico. No wonder it's the world leader! We've even made adding Harvey's Salt Blocks simplicity itself... a matter of seconds. The diagram shows how the clever sliding lid design lets a new block tip in without any extra height being required above the Kinetico. |
The Role of Salt in the ProcessSalt is not used in the softening process itself. That's all down to the magical resin beads in each of the Kinetico's cylinders. Salt is what regenerates the beads when they become exhausted and need to be flushed through. But with no electrical consumption, salt is the only consumable product needed in a Kinetico softener. And even here the Kinetico is more efficient and cheaper to run. This is because conventional softeners programme the amount of salt used in the regeneration cycle to equal the peak water usage in the week... and typical domestic water usage varies widely over the average week. You can see from the diagram here how much salt is wasted in other softeners. The unique Kinetico process only uses the exact amount of salt required for every individual cycle so you use less with this remarkable machine. |
No programming requiredThe Kinetico water softener automatically matches the water softening process to your water needs...its a continuous process. There are no electronic parts to go wrong, nothing to be set or reset. Nothing to worry about, even when you go on holiday. Very simple, very reliable, very effective... very much better. |
Brilliantly successful technologyKinetico have become the clear market leaders in water softeners because the are so much more advanced, so simple in operation and so reliable. You can opt to take out a 10-year extension warranty but the chances are you'll never need it. A Kinetico softener is easy to fit too, just like a washing machine. There's even a DIY kit. And it's easy to take with you if you move house. |
